The Somerville Public School district has created a comprehensive evaluation schedule following the regulations provided by Achieve NJ. All certified staff members receive a minimum of 3 formal observations a school year. Administrators also perform classroom “walk-throughs” quite often in an attempt to provide teachers constructive feedback in preparation for formal observations. At the conclusion of a school year, each staff member receives a Summative Evaluation consisting of data from multiple sources. The 4 possible ratings a teacher can receive are Highly Effective, Effective, Partially Effective and Ineffective. All of the district’s data is housed in Teachpoint, an online forum to easily share information.
