195 Merit Scholarships Totaling $4.7 million. As the largest independently sponsored merit co-op scholarship program in the United States. These merit co-op scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors  and transfer students who plan to participate in college cooperative education at on of our Partner Institutions. Varsity Tutors Scholarship
 Varsity Tutors holds a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest where students must write an essay in response to a monthly prompt. Visitors to the Varsity Tutors scholarship webpage are able to vote via social media for submitted entries. The top five entries with the most votes are reviewed by Varsity Tutors at the end of the month and one winner is subsequently chosen to receive the $1,000 college scholarship.  Junior League of Morristown Volunteerism Scholarship
 The JLM will recognize the outstanding community service of high school seniors by awarding up to four $2500 college scholarships. The primary criteria upon which these scholarships are awarded is a demonstrated commitment to volunteerism. secondary criteria include leadership, extra-curricular activities, scholastic effort and work or family responsibilities. Financial need is not a factor for consideration. Applications have to reside in Morris or Somerset Counties, and must plan to attend an accredited college or university, or trade school.  P.L.A.Y. Scholars Helping Collars Scholarship
P.L.A.Y. has always made a point to promote compassion towards animals in both our personal and professional lives. The contest is open to US residents. All participants must be enrolled as full time high school juniors or seniors. Entries are limited to one per person. Immediate family members of P.L.A.Y. employees are excluded from this contest. To apply, students will submit an essay with 2-3 photos of their volunteer efforts to help animals in need and how that involvement has changed their lives or shaped their perceptions on the importance of animal welfare.  Sandra F. Cirello Scholarship Memorial Award
This scholarship is open to a graduating senior who has demonstrated acts of kindness and concern for others and who has embodied the caring spirit of Sandra Cirello's life work as a teacher and guidance counselor in the Somerville School System for forty years. Interested seniors should submit an essay about their acts of kindness and service to their school and community to a secretary in the Guidance Office.  Jane Q. Goula Memorial Academic Scholarship
 Jane was a kind and compassionate woman who loved her family and friends. She was always ready to lend a helping hand, and she touched the lives of many. Although Jane never attended college, she was a successful business woman who greatly valued educations. Jane passed away in 1997 and her family and friends thought it was fitting to honor her with this academic scholarship with the hope that this scholarship will enable the young person who receives it to enrich his/her life by continuing his/her education.  George W. Gens Memorial Academic Scholarship
 George W. Gens was a WWII veteran and college professor for more than 30 years. He was a speech pathologist and is considered one of the "fathers" of the field in the state of New Jersey. George valued education and the institutions that enrich the lives of young adults. He provided many with the opportunity to improve their lives and his family is pleased to create this award to honor his legacy.  Teresa Zieglhofer Memorial Academic Scholarship
 The Teresa Ziegelhofer Memorial Academic Scholarship was formed when a beloved member of the Ziegelhofer family, Teresa, was taken from them in May 2008, at the age of 30. the Ziegelhofer family had the good fortune of taking in Teresa as a foster child and later adopting her into the family. Theresa did not take the educational opportunities available to her after high school and learned later on in her life the importance of a good education. She came to believe that an education was vital in becoming the best person one could be. At the time of her death, she was pursuing her lifelong dream of achieving an associate's degree. The family knows that Teresa is smiling in heaven watching another "chosen" individual become the recipient of this fine scholarship, so that he/she can pursue the dream that she could not fulfill.  This grant honors Fran and Jack Borgenicht, both of whom have a long philanthropic history, particularly in supporting foster, adoptive, and kinship families in Morris County and the State of New Jersey.  Jane W. Smullen Opportunity Grant
 The grant is in memory of Jane, who worked tirelessly giving in her profession as a nurse, as a deacon at her church, as a member of The Eastern Star and with numerous other organizations, as well as in her day-to-day life. When she saw someone with a need, she did what she could to help them. Jane was truly an inspiration to all who knew her. She knew hardships and realized that there are times in life when someone needs an helping hand. At the age of 50, she was granted a full scholarship to go to nursing school and took every opportunity to pass her good fortune on to others.  Bernard and Sue Dondiego Opportunity Grant
 This grant honors Bernie and Sue Dondiego, both of whom are founding members and past presidents of FAFS. They have been dynamic child advocates for almost a half-century. During this time, they fostered 38 children. Sadly, Bernie Dondiego, passed away in July 2015. Sue continues to be actively involved by serving on several FAFS committees.  To be eligible for a Van Doren Scholarship, a candidate must be a Somerset county resident who is attending or planning to attend as a full-time student an accredited four-year college or university, a two-year college, or a post high school trade or nursing school. James Adamec Memorial Scholarship
 The James Adamec Memorial Scholarship is in honor of former Somerville Board of Education member James M. "Jim" Adamec. This scholarship offers a $2,500 award to a graduating senior intending to major in mathematics, engineering, science or finance.  NJUA Excellence in Diversity Scholarship
 Each year, the New Jersey Utilities Association (NJUA) awards the NJUA Excellence in Diversity Scholarship to a qualified, deserving New Jersey high school senior who meets the eligibility criteria. This year, the Association will award two four year scholarship providing $1500 per academic year to students selected by our Scholarship Review Committee who will be attending college in New Jersey. 2017 ETS Employees' Community Action Fund Scholarship Program
 The ETS ECAF Scholarship program was established to assist New Jersey students who wish to attend college and who might not be able to achieve their dream of attaining a degree without the assistance of a scholarship. This program specifically seeks to help graduating public high school seniors facing hardships, including but not limited to financial need. Scholarships of up to $10,000 wil be awarded to selected students who are pursing a degree from two or four year accredited non profit schools.
