Amnesty International (AI) is a worldwide movement of people working together to protect the human rights of others. AI works for: the release of prisoners of conscience-men, women, and children imprisoned for their beliefs, color, sex, ethnic origin, language, or religion, provided they neither used nor advocated violence; fair and prompt trials for all political prisoners; and an end to torture and execution in all cases. The AI high school program unites the efforts of students, faculty, and staff in high schools across the United States. The SHS chapter of AI meets twice a month and participates in various campaigns to promote student awareness of human rights violations. All eligible students are welcome.
