    Varsity Tutors Scholarship
     Varsity Tutors holds a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest where students must write an essay in response to a monthly prompt. Visitors to the Varsity Tutors scholarship webpage are able to vote via social media for submitted entries. The top five entries with the most votes are reviewed by Varsity Tutors at the end of the month and one winner is subsequently chosen to receive the $1,000 college scholarship.     Connections for the Future Scholarship $1000 for a graduating public school senior with disabilities from Bergen, Passaic Hudson, Essex, Morris, Somerset, Union, Warren or Sussex County. This scholarship is open only to graduates of public schools from the above mentioned NJ counties. The connections for the Future Scholarship provides financial support and recognition of students with disabilities graduating from a public school program as they pursue post secondary training, education or other opportunitites'.     Internship Opportunity Assemblyman Roy Freiman seeks interns for his office in Hillsborough. This internship term runs from September through December. Our ideal candidate is an organized and committed student who is eager to join a fast paced environment and build upon their knowledge of the legislative process. Candidates should be professional, quick learners, and phenomenal team players. This internship is unpaid. Ties to LD 16 are helpful, but not necessary.     George W. Gens Memorial Academic Scholarship George Gens was a WWII veteran and college professor for more than 30 years. He was a speech pathologist and is considered one of the "fathers' of the field in the state of New Jersey. George valued education and the institutions that enrich the lives of young adults.     Teresa Ziegelhofer Memorial Academic Scholarship The Teresa Ziegelhofer Memorial Academic Scholarship was formed when a beloved member of the Ziegelhofer family, Teresa, was taken from them in May 2008, at the age of 30. The Ziegelhofer family had the good fortune of taking in Teresa as a foster child and later adopting her into the family. Teresa did not take the educational opportunities available to her after high school and learned later on in life the importance of a good education.     Betsy Niles Scholarship The Betsy Niles scholarship is offered in memory of Betsy Niles, a children's book editor and lifelong resident of Montclair. Betsey died in 2011 and, in keeping with her tradition of lifelong giving, her organs were donated. Betsy was known for always giving the perfect gift for every occasion. Her last gift was the greatest gift of all, the gift of life.     Arete Scholarship Recipients of the Arete Scholarship are youth who demonstrate a sense of Jersey pride and willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty. Honoring those who embody exemplary qualities such as moral character, a commitment to their community, and academic engagement, the $5000 scholarship will be awarded to a deserving male and female student, who will be recognized at the NJHOF's annual induction ceremony. For high school seniors who wish to pursue the Arete Scholarship, the application asks students to answer questions about overcoming hardships, what Arete means to them, activities, community service, and more.     The Van Doren Scholarship To be eligible for a Van Doren Scholarship, a candidate must be a resident of Somerset County who is attending or planning to attend as a full time student as an accredited four year college or university, a two year college, or a post high school trade or nursing school. Students may apply during their senior year of high school and during any year of their post-secondary school studies. Students working on advanced degrees are not eligible.     Beyond the Cure Ambassador Scholarship To be eligible for the scholarship a student must be a childhood cancer survivor who has demonstrated the ability to overcome the difficult challenges of cancer with determination and motivation.     Janet Logan Daily Foundation Scholarship The Janet Logan Daily Foundation grants an annual award to one graduating high school senior from New Jersey who enrolls full-time in an accredited university or college within the United States. This scholarship rewards students from varying academic backgrounds who have routinely demonstrated maturity and integrity within and beyond the classroom.     James Adamec Memorial Scholarship

    The James Adamec Memorial Scholarship is in honor of former Somerville Board of Education member James M. "Jim" Adamec.  This scholarship offers a $2,500 award to a graduating senior intending to major in mathematics, engineering, science or finance.  Interested students should display academic achievement and a strong work ethic.     New Jersey Utilities Association

    The New Jersey Utilities Association (NJUA) awards the NJUA Excellence in Diversity Scholarship to a qualified, deserving New Jersey High School senior who meets the eligibility criteria. This year, the Association will award two four year scholarships providing $1500 per academic year to students selected by our Scholarship Review Committee who will be attending college in New Jersey.     People Care Scholarship

    For more than thirty years the PeopleCare Center has provided affordable rental space for nonprofit agencies to use in facilitating their programs. The Center has been a presence in the community and has supported the nonprofits in meeting the needs of their program participants. With recognition that education is at the roof of all social progress and to expand its outreach to the community at large, the PeopleCare Center has committed some of its resources to provide college scholarships. PCCNP will offer up to twelve $1,000.00 scholarships to be awarded to senior students planning on attending college next year.     THE NEW JERSEY VIETNAM VETERANS' 
     MEMORIAL FOUNDATION
    Each year, the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial Foundation awards (2), $2,500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are continuing their education in college, university, or at a trade/technical school. 
     
    The awards can be used for anything the students need for their education careers.
     
    Eligible students are:
    • A NJ resident,
    • A graduating high school senior,
    • A visitor to the NJ Vietnam Veterans' Memorial and someone who has written a reflective essay based on this experience.
