    13th Annual National Co-Op Scholarship Program  195 Merit Scholarships Totaling $4.7 million. As the largest independently sponsored merit co-op scholarship program in the United States. These merit co-op scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors  and transfer students who plan to participate in college cooperative education at one of our Partner Institutions.     Varsity Tutors Scholarship
     Varsity Tutors holds a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest where students must write an essay in response to a monthly prompt. Visitors to the Varsity Tutors scholarship webpage are able to vote via social media for submitted entries. The top five entries with the most votes are reviewed by Varsity Tutors at the end of the month and one winner is subsequently chosen to receive the $1,000 college scholarship.     College Board Scholarship The College Board Opportunity Scholarships lay out six simple steps that all students can take to get into college. Completing each step will earn a chance for a scholarship; completing all six will ear students a chance to win $40,000 for their college education.     Connections for the Future Scholarship $1000 for a graduating public school senior with disabilities from Bergen, Passaic Hudson, Essex, Morris, Somerset, Union, Warren or Sussex County. This scholarship is open only to graduates of public schools from the above mentioned NJ counties. The connections for the Future Scholarship provides financial support and recognition of students with disabilities graduating from a public school program as they pursue post secondary training, education or other opportunitites'.     Bachus and Schanker Scholarhsip

    JLM Voluntarism Scholarship

    The JLM will also continue to recognize the exceptional community service of high school seniors by awarding $2,500 college scholarships. The primary criterion for the HS Voluntarism Scholarship is outstanding dedication to volunteerism and community service. Candidates should also show strong leadership skills, academic performance, and participation in extracurricular activities, and work or family responsibilities. Applicants must plan to attend an accredited college, university, or trade school. Financial need is not a factor for consideration.     JLM Post Secondary Assistance Grant

    This year, in alignment with this area of focus, the JLM is proud to introduce a new scholarship to help enable post-secondary education by awarding grants in the amount of $2,500 to graduating high school seniors who live and/or attend school in Morris or Somerset counties, and who will be attending an accredited college, university or trade school. The primary criterion for the Post-Secondary Education Assistance Grant is a commitment to continuing education after high school and the ability to demonstrate how the JLM scholarship will enable those goals. Unlike for the voluntarism scholarship, financial circumstances will be considered. Strong leadership skills, academic performance, participation in extracurricular activities, and work or family responsibilities will also be considered.     John Sanford Memorial Scholarship

    The Township of Branchburg Republican Municipal Committee is sponsoring a $500 scholarship in memory of John Sanford.  John Sanford served on the Township Committee for 25 years and served as a mayor for 7 terms. Interested students who meet the requirements below, should submit the essay to the Guidance Office by Friday, February 28th.  

    Requirements:

    • Resident of Branchburg and attends the Somerville High School
    • The memorial is based on Merit and not financial need
    • This award is meant to go toward educational expenses in the students first semester of college
    • GPA/Grades and Attendance will be taken into consideration by the committee
    • The applicant should show outstanding commitment to the Somerville High School and to the community
    • The applicant should demonstrate the characteristics of a good citizen
    • The applicant should show leadership skills
    • The applicant must write an essay explaining how he/she has enriched the community through service and leadership.  The student must also learn about who John Sanford was and explain how his involvement in the community has inspired him /her.
