Prerequisites: Exploring Art, Communications Designs 1, OR The 3D Experience
This Advertising Concepts course is designed for the student with an interest in art as a profession. Through the use of the Elements and Principles of Art and Design students will experience various techniques and media that relate to the commercial art field, and will result in high level creations. You will produce a portfolio of personal work that can demonstrate proficiency in the field of commercial art and will be useful when interviewing for a job in the field of art or for a college interview. Experimentation is encouraged and expected to develop artistic expression and broaden your knowledge of art. Advanced techniques and skills, artistic problem solving, craftsmanship, and the use of various media will be explored. Students will bring visual form to their ideas and concepts using independence, creativity, and originality. Advertising Concepts students will be exposed to commercial art works representative of historical periods and styles, art criticism, and aesthetics. They will learn to articulate their feelings and opinions about art and will develop a sense of responsibility and pride in their work, as well as respect for the work of others’ by being an integral part of a working art studio. Art experiences include product illustration, package design, fashion illustration, layout techniques, pen and ink rendering, and graphic art created through technology.
