Somerville Public Schools creates and implements all safety protocols as recommended by the NJ Department of Health, NJ Department of Education, and the State of NJ. The protocols are in place to limit the spread of COVID-19 and other communicable diseases within the school setting. As new guidance regarding mitigation strategies is provided to school districts, Somerville will review and make the appropriate modifications to existing safety protocols and practices.

Number of cases of in-district transmission as determined by the NJ Department of Health and Somerville Public Schools
- March 2020 to Present = 0
In-district transmission is defined as the transmission of COVID from one person to another as the result of close contact with an infected individual within the school setting.
Although there have been individuals identified as having tested positive who learn or work in our school locations, the origin of the transmissions has not been linked to close contact between infected individuals and non-infected individuals within the district buildings. These findings are based on contact tracing efforts and analysis of the information that has been provided to and collected by the NJ Department of Health and/or district contact tracers. Cases have been traced back to various settings outside of the school setting where a COVID positive individual likely infected a close contact.
