Room 222B – Counseling Services – Ext. 1527
I am the non-traditional school psychologist here at Somerville Middle School, and I value the chance to serve this school community. I began my career in education as a middle-school teacher and taught for six years in a large school district. Although I loved teaching, I began looking for a way to further support my students’ success, as well as how to support teachers and parents at the same time, so I pursued further education in school psychology and social-emotional development. I received both my Masters and Doctorate in Psychology and refined my belief in the need to blend current research with practicality to find the best fit for our students, their families, school staff, and our community. Here at SMS, my goal is to meet the needs of our students through individualized attention, counseling groups, observations, parent and teacher consultation, extra resources, parent workshops, and committee involvement in the hopes that our students can benefit from and enact positive change in their lives. My focus is on both prevention and intervention and relies on what are considered "best practices" among education and psychology. Please visit the Counseling Services website for lists of available counseling groups and services, resources, links, and flyers for
community events and workshops.
